Welcome to “The Ballroom”.... where tomorrow begins today.

Darryl Adams and Michele Kearney founded “The Ballroom” to provide a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where individuals and couples can learn social dancing and improve their dance skills. Dancing is fun, a partnership activity, aerobic, and a skill that will last a lifetime.

Our goals are to help you achieve these and some of the many other benefits possible through dance — and achieve them in a friendly, fun environment. Learning to dance may be a passing interest for a week or a fulfilling hobby that can last a lifetime. No matter to what dance level you aspire, we can provide the instruction and practice you seek.

Darryl Adams and Michele Kearney have been teaching in the Washington DC area since 1986 and 1993 respectively. The focused effort we have invested in our dancing and teaching skills provides us with the qualifications necessary to teach people of all ages and dance levels. We have extensive knowledge in all of the contemporary dances, such as the waltz, foxtrot, swing, tango, and salsa, just to name a few, and we both teach, choreograph, perform, and attend dance competitions with our students.

We have both worked for several independent and chain studios and currently dance in Frank Regan’s company, The American Dance Montage. Frank Regan is a former North American and Canadian Ten Dance Champion and, in addition to being a mentor to Darryl and Michele, is a well-known and highly respected choreographer in the dance community.
